Information Collection and Use

Connexus Energy and their subsidiaries are the sole owners of the information collected from our members and/or website users. We are committed to using reasonable level of care to protect your private information. We will not sell or rent any information to others. Personal information will not be sold or rented to other companies without the members’ written consent, or as required by law.

Connexus Energy, or research associates retained solely for the purposes of monitoring member satisfaction, needs, and opinions may, from time to time, contact you via phone, mail, or email to conduct research. All research information collected is used solely by Connexus Energy and its subsidiaries to monitor member opinions and needs for current or potential products and services.

Personal identifiable information, such as name, address, account number, phone number, financial information, social security number, email address, etc., is required for some business processes. This information will be maintained as confidential business information for which access is strictly limited. Other anonymous information, such as demographic, household, hobbies, interests, etc., may also be collected for use in identifying and understanding market segments. In some instances, a combination of the two types of information may be collected. This type of information does not identify individuals personally and will typically only be used for Connexus Energy's internal business purpose in an attempt to serve you better.

Employee and Business Partner Access to Member Information

We restrict access to all member information to only those employees and business partners who need it to provide members with service and information. Our employees, directors, auditors, and other business partners having authorized access to company databases and records are required by confidentiality agreements to respect member privacy and to access member information only when they have a business reason. Any employee, director, auditor, or other business partner who fails to follow this policy will be subject to disciplinary or other appropriate legal action.

Use of Website Cookies

Some areas of the Connexus Energy website utilize "cookies." A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's device containing information about the user while on our website. In most cases, the cookie will simply terminate when the browser is closed. However, in some areas of the site, cookies are designed to terminate after a pre-determined amount of time, even in the browser is kept active. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still browse the site; however, in some instances, they may be unable to access all information on a particular page.

Website Log Files

Connexus Energy keeps track of user IP addresses to help analyze trends, track movement, administer the website, and gather broad user information. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information and simply allow us to determine what areas best serve our members.

Links to other sites are provided as a convenience to our members. Please be aware that Connexus Energy is not responsible for the privacy practices of the sites for which we provide links. Once you leave our website by accessing another linked website, we no longer have control over how your personal data may be used. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements on each website they visit. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by Connexus Energy.

Data Security

While no one can guarantee absolute security for information communicated over the Internet, Connexus Energy makes every effort to keep member data secure. Policies and procedures have been implemented for security and disaster recovery purposes. Internal servers are, at minimum, protected behind a firewall. All employees with access to member data are required to adhere to current company security policies, including password requirements and device security.

Online security for most personal and sensitive information transferred from our website via the internet (such as credit card numbers, account information, etc.) uses SSL encryption software to protect the data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Depending on your browser type and settings, you will be alerted to the areas of the website utilizing the SSL encryption. If you are unsure the information you are submitting is secure, please call Connexus to verify its security prior to submitting.

Email Security

Regular Internet e-mail is never completely secure. For that reason, Connexus Energy will never request that you provide any of the following information via e-mail initiated by Connexus Energy:

  • Your account user ID.
  • Your account password.
  • Your complete social security number.
  • Your credit card or bank information.

If you receive an e-mail requesting any of this information, it is likely an attempted theft of your identity commonly called “phishing.” If you believe you have been subjected to a “phishing” attempt please contact Connexus Energy so appropriate action can be taken. Choice/Opt-In

Website users are given the opportunity to “opt-in” to various email programs, such as product and service updates, promotional offerings, community news, and information. Users of our website are not automatically “opted-in” to email programs. All members currently enrolled in an email program may choose to “opt-out” of receiving the communications by following the procedures listed at the bottom of the email message.

Notification of Changes

This Connexus Energy Privacy Policy may be updated periodically and without prior notice to reflect changes in our information practices. Please review the contents of our Privacy Policy frequently. We will place a notice on our website to notify users of material changes to our Privacy Policy.
